The new crop tool is wonderful - there is no unnecessary dialog that goes in your way anymore. Just click and drag, adjust if necessary and crop by clicking in the crop area or pressing Enter. Simple, elegant and effective. And there is much more in the upcoming version. Color management, dynamic brushes, lens distortion filter, perspective cloning etc. The list of new and improved features is long.

However numerous and nice the new features are, there are some dark and dirty places in GIMP that contain long unnoticed or neglected bugs. I have found one such a bug in the HSV Noise filter. Adding hue noise was making the image more or less green. The effect of the bug was sometimes really impressive:

At this gentle settings, the effect should be barely noticeable color noise. Instead, whole areas have changed color completely. (The screenshot is from GIMP 2.2, the original photograph of by joka2000 under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license. And it is not dog rose as I thought but dogwood!)

The bug was unnoticed since GIMP 2.0. Should be fixed in GIMP 2.4-rc2 (and I have first small piece of C code accepted to the GIMP project).
